The Practice

A lab for your hips, not a lesson in your head.

Every class runs on four movement qualities. They don't build on each other in order — you'll find a different one leading each session, depending on the music and the room.

Sh.

Shake

Fast hip drops, shimmies, the vibration work that makes bellydance recognizable at a glance. Isolation before speed.

Fl.

Flow

Figure-eights, undulations, the slow architecture underneath the fast moves. Where control actually lives.

Pl.

Play

Improvisation, call-and-response with the drum, no set choreography to fall back on. This is where it stops feeling like exercise.

Ex.

Express

Putting it all in front of the mirror and then in front of each other. Performance quality, without a stage required.

August 2026

Three sessions. One skirt's worth of practice.

Hips Lab runs as a small, closed group across three Wednesdays. Come to one, or come to all three — the sequence is designed to build.
